Sleepy EMTs

Surviving Shiftwork

Presented: May 18, 2023  Available until: May 31, 2024

Getting enough quality sleep to feel alert when you wake up is essential for all workers. However, did you know that 15% of the US workforce works outside the traditional workday of 7am to 6pm and that people who work nights sleep 4 hours less per week than day workers? Sleep is just part of the complex equation shift workers face each day as they navigate when to sleep, when to eat, and how to socialize while working outside the traditional workday.

This webinar will explore sleep and sleep deprivation as it relates to shift work. We will also discuss several strategies on “how to do life” while working shiftwork and provide some practical tips and tricks for workers to feel their best.

Objectives

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of sleeping, eating, and socializing for the worker who works outside the traditional workday
  2. Identify strategies on “how to do life” while working shiftwork
  3. List practical tips to help survive shiftwork
