ASP Passed! I would recommend memorizing the noise and IH formulas. They didn't put them in the questions. Know Engineering Economy, Electrical Safety, Statistics. I purchased the 50 question practice test on Engineering Economy from Bowen and it was a GREAT help. Invest in a financial calculator to do them. The HP 11 is accepted but check for certain on the BCSP site the exact type. It saves you a lot of time. Practice questions are the biggest help including the online practice quiz but I took the ASP/CSP online Bowen course and doing the homework, etc. really helps. Make sure you read the question and take a few minute break after first 100 questions.

CSP Passed! Thank you Colleen and Mike for the class and all the great advice. I did each HW multiple times, listened to the class recordings multiple times, flashcards, and used the quiz sections on the Bowen website. In addition, I recommend the following:
- BCSP practice test - very helpful,
- Go to the test site before the day of the test. - Find parking, determine how to "sign" into the building, find the suite, etc. This helps remove a little stress the day of the test.
- Marathon view- it is a long test, I flagged all the math questions, and kept moving. I had plenty of time to do the math questions and to review everything else on the test before time was up.

I took and passed the CSP Exam this morning. I felt that is was very heavily weighted on training and management with some fire protection (pumps) thrown in there as well. I was starting to get discouraged during the first 50 or so questions since I felt they were worded very poorly. Most of the math questions had the equations embedded in the question some I had never seen before. The problems with out equations would have helped but were not necessary to answer the questions. I took an unscheduled break about an hour into the exam to regroup and refocus, which I think was very beneficial. I am extremely relieved that this is now behind me and i can get my normal life back!!!

Good morning..I took my CSP this morning and passed! The entire test took me about 2 hours to complete. I went through the questions and flagged the math ones for last. About an hour and a half into the exam I was getting tired and had gone through all 200 questions so I took about a 10 minute break before going back and answering the flagged questions.
In my opinion, I found the CSP to be much easier than the ASP. The questions seemed straight forward and there wasn't as much math. The test focused heavily on safety, which is my stronger area over the health stuff (IH, Radiation, Toxicology, Etc).

Passed the CSP today. The difficulty didn't disappoint. As with others, the focus is on Safety management, training, System Safety, auditing, Engineering Economy, some radiation questions, IH, and Fire pump questions. I answered the last question with 2 minutes left. The CSP is significantly more difficult than the ASP.

Just want to thank Bowen EHS and the instructors. I could not have done it without the ASP course and Bowen premium resources. I passed the ASP at the end of March and now the CSP. I would suggest taking ASP-CSP between 60-90 days if possible. I've been in the EHS world since 1995 but needed to get this done during 2015 due to my stable work schedule this year.

I used the ASP study book, study sheets, reviewed most of the ASP-CSP questions, BCSP assessments (both ASP and CSP) and the Brauer book.

Thanks Bowen. I've recommended your CHMM and CSP course to my manager. Worth the money and investment.

I passed the ASP exam this morning. It was not that hard but very very long. By about 100 question I thought I will not pass because I flagged approximately 20-30 questions. But kept on going, I didn't want to give this up easily. As the saying goes It ain't over until a fat lady sings :).

At the end of approximately 3 hrs finished all 200 questions with approximately 40-50 flagged question. Closed my eyes for 1-2 mins sitting at my chair, just to re-group. Went back to review all my flagged questions. Finished the exam with 30 mins remaining.

Nothing new to add other than what people have commented. I had lot of economics/cost (very tricky) , electrical safety and management / controls questions. My advice read the questions carefully and answer, do not stop, keep going with the questions (tackle those tricky maths questions last) and lastly, time flies so manage your time well.

Thank you Bowen and Mike. One down and one more to go.

I passed the ASP exam this morning. It took me 3.5 hours with a single pass. I didn't spend an exorbitant amount of time on any one question. Rather, if I didn't know the answer after a few minutes, I made an educated guess and moved on. I primarily just used the Bowen ASP/CSP review manual for studying and went through it in its entirety about 4 times. I used the quizzes for prep. I didn't read any additional references. Relieved it's over and ready to tackle the CSP now! Thank you, Bowen!!

A one Million Mile Journey begins with a step. Yesterday, the journey concluded when I passed the CSP exams after passing the ASP in May. I took the CSP online lecture in April 2015 and it it was and still a great resource for the safety profession not just for the ASP/CSP Exams. Thank you to the BOWEN team.

Topical recommendation are: Brauer book, BOWEN online resource/study, BCSP self assessment. My experience is that the CSP examination focused more on training, management, project mgt, system safety and fire water system. Good luck to every one that is yet to take the ASP/CSP exams. Once again my appreciation goes to my BOWEN tutor.

"Passed the ASP last Wednesday! Now I am just waiting to schedule my CSP ASAP.

I found the (ASP) exam to be very challenging. There were many questions that I was not 100% confident in my answers. Additionally, there were a number of questions that I knew the answers too, however there were at least 2 other viable answers. BE SURE TO READ ALL QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS THOROUGHLY!

All in all I think the Bowen class definitely helped. I studied the homework, the course slides, read chapters in the Brouer book, played the quiz app and practiced on the 50 question sample quiz booklets over and over. I also made flashcards where Mikey told us to during class.

There were a lot of questions that we did not specifically review throughout the course. You had to use your professional judgement. The ASP exam I took had a lot of Safety management, engineering environment, training, ergonomics, Toxicology and Biosafety......

Study hard, trust your instincts and don't get flustered when you do not know 1,2,3,4 or even 5 answers in a row :) Flag them and move on and come back to them once you gain some momentum.

Today, about 2 hours ago, I finally passed the CSP. It took me two tries, but on my second attempt I did it! I just want to thank Rick, Russ and the rest of the staff at Bowen in helping me achieve a goal I set out to do nearly 4 years ago. First I went after my BS in safety, then ASP, and finally today CSP. I will be recommending this course to all of my friends pursuing this certification.

As far as the test went, I was surprised that many of the questions were identical to my first try about two months ago. As others have mentioned lots of emphasis on safety management. I basically memorized the last couple of chapters in the Brauer book!

As this was my second time, I wasn't sure if I would have to take it a third. So on the scratch pad I started jotting down the areas and questions that I was having a hard time with in an attempt to re-write them as soon as I got back to the car in case I failed. I was thinking, if I failed again it won't be in vain, and I'll have some specifics on what to study for. Fortunately I didn't have to use my notes, and when I finally hit the submit button with 30 min left on the clock, I stared in disbelief that I got a Pass! Stay vigilant if you're about to take the exam, you'll do great. Thanks again folks.

I passed the CSP exam this morning. I only finished the CSP review course with Colleen a week and a half ago, but because I do a lot of traveling for work and never know where I'm headed or for how long, the only time I could schedule the exam just happened to be over the holiday weekend while I was home. Thanks to Colleen and Bowen for preparing me for success!

For future candidates - Take a long look at safety management and investigation techniques. I only used my calculator on maybe a dozen problems. This exam is what it says it is - comprehensive. Good luck to all and thanks again Colleen and Bowen!

I passed the CSP this afternoon! I am so excited to have this bear off my back. I can't thank Mike, Russ and Rick enough for the support and info the info along the way, I couldn't of done it without you guys. I took this exam two times previously and was unsuccessful but took a deep breath and got back on the horse. For all of those getting ready to sit for this exam focus on radiation, a lot of risk management/assessment, engineering economy, adult learning and safety management. Stay focused and keep pushing through.

Took the ASP exam today and passed! Special thanks to Colleen, Mike & and Russ!!

I took the ASP review course in January of this year and had started studying in late December. My test consisted of a lot of electrical questions (math type questions and concepts), training questions, a few probability questions, and engineering economy (very in depth).

The best advice to give for those taking the test is to review the practice questions through the Bowen site and fully understand how to do them. A lot of these questions can be very helpful for the exam. I think it helped me tremendously. So glad to have this behind me. Good luck to everyone!

GLORY BE TO GOD!! I just passed the CSP exam. I had 30 minutes to spare but sat frozen for 20 minutes before I pushed the button. That exam was tough! My exam mostly contained a whole lot of management questions, training and safety system questions. There were more radiation questions then I thought but they were not to difficult, more theory then calculations on that subject. I also had several tank calculation and economy (interest) problems... I wasn't expecting any of those....they were very lengthy. I had several fire system questions dealing with sprinkler systems....Most of the questions were long and tedious but, I pushed through.

I did purchase the pre exam and the Datachem software but I did not find either to be useful other than giving examples of how the test questions would be formatted. I also purchased the Bauer book. I thought this helped me more than the pre-exam and Datachem. The Bowen Class also was a great instrument in helping me pass. I listened to the lectures several time and did the home work.

My best advise...get a good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast and go for it! Good luck to everyone!

I finally took the big step and registered for my exam date. That forced me to focus my energy on studying ... and it worked! I took the exam today and I passed! I just want to thank Russ for all of the help, encouragement, and patience with my procrastination. I read through all of the great posts from others here and they definitely helped - thanks all! I don't think I have much of value to add except this great quote - "You miss every shot you don't take". Honestly my fear of failure kept me from doing it sooner. So learn from my experience and go for it! I learned a ton from Russ' class, reviewing the materials, and using the app, too. Keep on reviewing and look things up you don't quite get until you do "get it".

I took the CSP 6 week review course online with Colleen back in April of 2014. She was great and wanted to send out a special thank you for all your helpful guidance along those 6 weeks. I waited just about a year to take my CSP after signing up for the review class and over a year after my ASP. I would not suggest doing this and just get it out of the way while the information from the ASP is still fresh.
I highly recommend purchasing the BCSP practice exam that gives you a good idea of how they will word the questions.
Study Management and training. I would also recommend reviewing all the Bowen weekly CSP/ASP questions.
I would say I was confident on about 75, unsure on about 100 (but could narrow down to a 50/50 chance and just selected what I felt was best) and guessed on the remainder.
Good luck to everyone. It is worth all the studying in the end. Thanks again Colleen!

Still feel like the Bowen review course materials were more than adequate to pass the exam. Everyone's knowledge base and test-taking ability is different, so your mileage may vary. Personally, I am glad I did not spend the time reading voluminous reference sources (considering the <10% reading information retention rate). Highly suggest working all Bowen sample questions and becoming efficient at the simple engineering economy questions likely to be on the exam. Guess to the best of your ability on the ones that make you shake your head. Good luck.

I passed the new ASP exam! The test started easier than I expected but did finish with some questions I had absolutely no idea what the answer was. The big things I saw were engineering economy questions and probability questions. They also did have questions on workplace violence, fleet safety, and environmental management so definitely brush up on those. I finished the test with an hour to spare, which surprised me. If you can, purchase the BCSP self assessment because I think that, combined with the Bowen material and the webinars on the new material helped greatly. On to the CSP!!

I just recently took the CSP exam and unfortunately failed. No words can describe how frustrating it was to see that word come up on the screen after I hit the final submit button. I basically have reviewed all of the Bowen materials backwards and forwards, and could probably teach the course at this point (yeah right, Mike and Rick you guys are awesome)! Additionally, I was at the point where I knew the CSP self-assessment like the back of my hand. Not just the right letter to pick, but actually the content.
The test that I took did contain a lot of IH questions, which I'll admit is not my strong suit. Plus I didn't have access to any equations and/or information 'I thought' would be helpful. For instance, there was a z-table question that didn't have the z-table available. So either 1.) I really didn't need it or 2.) there was a mistake. I have emailed the BCSP about this and I am awaiting a response.

Additionally, there were some radiation and fire sprinkler pressure calculations that I was completely unfamiliar with. So in short, once I'm done with my pity party, I'm going to give it another try! To anyone else who has failed as well, don't get discouraged, you can do this!

I just passed my CSP. It was a brain boiling exam, especially for a non-native English speakers. Many thanks to Bowen, Rick, & Mikey.

Very less math questions which almost straight forward. Many Systems safety, Audit, Training, Safety Management questions.
It was not easy, but it is not impossible. If I was able to do it, any one can. So cheer up :) Thanks a lot again and wish you all the best in your life and career.

WoooHoo!! I passed the CSP at exactly 1:32 p.m. this afternoon with 20 minutes left.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to me successfully passing this grueling exam!!
Special thanks to Russ & Colleen!

A FEW TIPS:
-Go through all of the emails posted with subject titles ""Passed CSP"" for exam focus areas.
-Go though the Bowen study sessions containing those focus areas.

WHAT I EXPERIENCED ON THE EXAM:
-Tremendous focus on safety management, performance measures for management and employees, safety systems and safety training.
-Some questions on engineering economy, cost-benefit analysis, probabilities, sampling instruments, ventilation and emergency plans.

Hope this helps...and best of luck to anyone preparing to take the leap!!

I Got Smoked! By the time I left the exam, I felt like I had been through one of Worf's initiation rituals. When I looked at the computer screen and saw the word ""Passed,"" I stared in total disbelief. I am happy to say that I passed the CSP exam today.

Do not be discouraged if you find the test overwhelming. Remember that almost everyone that takes the test is overwhelmed at one point or another. It is how we "manage" the situation that can make the difference. So, when you get frustrated and overwhelmed, continue moving forward. Keep moving relentlessly forward. At the halfway mark of the exam, I felt like walking out the front door. There were several times I almost said aloud, "Who in the heck made up these questions." Obviously, I did not bother to take the practice exam. It's still sitting inside a bag about two feet from where I'm sitting.

I am very grateful for the instruction I received from Rick. I am also grateful that I attended a class full of sharp people who made the learning experience a very rewarding endeavor. You all know who you are. No names are necessary.

Strange as it may seem, I was inspired to take the test by two people who gave me very good advice. I remember Rick saying that the number one reason people do not pass the test is that they do not take it in the first place. And, my wife said that I should just take it and get it over with. Well, it's all over with!

I am pleased to announce that I have passed CSP Exam yesterday. This course really gave me good preparations and I tried my best which helped me to succeed it with the blessings of Almighty Allah.I would take the opportunity to thank Bowen EHS, Mr. Mickey, Rick, Russ, my classmates and to everyone who posted their queries in forums which helped me to achieve this milestone. Great feelings after this success.

My advise for CSP candidates, extra focus on HSE training development techniques, Fire suppression & prevention and protection, Safety Systems,HSE Management Systems, HSE Auditing, Radiation and Ventilation. Read questions carefully because you likely know the answer but the trickiness in question might confuse you.

Don't forget to take something to eat!I consumed my entire exam time and ended my review in last minute. After 4 hours, I was terribly hungry but luckily had some snacks in hand to restore my energy and concentrated back to exam.
Wishing you all success in your respective exams.
